Frequently Asked Questions

A personal stylist helps you make your wardrobe work better for your real life. That may mean editing what you already own, identifying what is missing, helping you understand the colors and silhouettes that flatter you most, shopping more intentionally, or putting together complete looks for work, travel, events, and everyday life.
At Kw Styles, the goal is not to turn you into someone else. It is to help you feel more like yourself — with greater clarity, confidence, and ease when you get dressed.
-
Not at all. In fact, many of my clients want to look polished and current but do not necessarily love all the time, effort, and decision-making that can go into getting there.
You may enjoy clothes and simply want a fresh perspective. Or you may feel overwhelmed by shopping, unsure what works anymore, or tired of buying things that never quite earn their place in your closet. Sometimes life, your body, or your work has changed and your wardrobe just hasn’t caught up yet.
You do not need to follow fashion or know exactly how to describe your personal style. That is part of what we can figure out together.
Personal styling is really about making getting dressed easier, more intentional, and more enjoyable — while still feeling like yourself.

Yes. While much of Kw Styles is designed around women, I also work with men who want to look current and pulled together without spending a lot of time thinking about clothes.
Men’s personal styling can include a closet edit, identifying wardrobe gaps, updating fit and silhouettes, personal shopping, travel wardrobes, or putting together a versatile group of pieces for work and everyday life.
The approach is practical and straightforward: understand how you spend your time, determine what you actually need, and build a wardrobe that makes getting dressed easier.
And if you are trying to help a husband or partner update his wardrobe but would rather not become his personal shopper, I can help with that too.

A closet edit is a thoughtful review of what you already own. Together, we look at what fits, what flatters, what still feels like you, what may need tailoring, and what can be styled in new ways.
We also look at where we can do better — where there may be gaps in your wardrobe, pieces that are making it harder to get dressed, or opportunities to create more versatility with what you already have.
This is not about getting rid of half your wardrobe or starting over. I am much more interested in helping you understand what is working, what is not, and why.
By the end, you should have a clearer wardrobe, new ideas for wearing the pieces you already own, and a much better sense of what — if anything — you actually need to buy.

Your Color Story is designed to give you a practical, personalized understanding of the colors that bring out your best.
We look at undertone, depth, contrast, and overall coloring to identify the seasonal palette that works most naturally with you. But I do not believe color analysis should leave you with a tiny box of “approved” colors and a list of rules.
Your finished Color Story goes further. It shows you your strongest neutrals, signature colors, metals, makeup direction, outfit inspiration, and ways to use your palette in real life. We also look at how to work with the colors you love that may not sit naturally in your ideal palette — including how to get the best out of black.
The goal is knowing what works to enhance and what to leave behind.
-
Absolutely. Occasion dressing is one of the areas where a stylist can save you time, frustration, and even money.
Whether you are dressing for a wedding, gala, reunion, milestone birthday, professional event, family photographs, or another important occasion, I can help you determine what is appropriate, flattering, and still feels like you.
We can work with pieces you already own, shop for something new, or combine the two. I can also help complete the look with shoes, jewelry, handbags, outerwear, and beauty recommendations so you are not left wondering whether everything actually works together.
And looking expensive does not actually have to be expensive. Knowing where to look, what is worth investing in, and how to mix high and low can make all the difference.
The goal is to help you walk into the event feeling confident, polished, and completely comfortable in what you are wearing.
-
Yes. Travel styling is about feeling prepared for everything without packing everything.
I create travel capsule wardrobes around your destination, weather, itinerary, personal style, and the realities of how you travel. We look for pieces that can work multiple ways and build outfits in advance so you know exactly what you are bringing — and why.
That might include sightseeing, dinners, flights, cruises, business travel, special events, or simply the challenge of looking polished while living out of a suitcase.
I will also give you practical packing tips to help you make the most of your space and your wardrobe. After traveling nearly 3 million miles around the world, I have that part down to a science.
The goal is fewer pieces, more outfits, less stress, and a suitcase that actually works for the trip you are taking.

No. Confidence in your style does not require a luxury wardrobe.
One of my core beliefs is that great personal style comes from making thoughtful choices, not simply spending more money. I regularly mix accessible brands with investment pieces and will always take your budget, lifestyle, priorities, and comfort level into account.
Sometimes the smartest choice is investing in the exceptional jacket, shoe, or handbag you will wear for years. I have pieces in my own wardrobe that I have owned for nearly 30 years because the quality was excellent and the style was timeless. Other times, there is absolutely no reason to spend more.
The goal is to spend intentionally, understand where quality matters, and choose pieces that genuinely earn a place in your wardrobe.
-
Not at all.
An intentional wardrobe starts with understanding what you already own, what you actually wear, what makes you feel good, and where the gaps really are.
We may find pieces that simply need to be styled differently, altered, paired in a new way, or brought back into rotation. We may also identify things that no longer serve you — because of fit, lifestyle, quality, or simply because they no longer feel like you.
The goal is not to replace your wardrobe. It is to make better use of what you have, be more thoughtful about what you add, and create a closet where more of the pieces work harder for you.

You do not need to know before we talk.
Some clients come to me with a very specific need: “I need a dress for a wedding.” Others simply know that getting dressed has become harder than it should be.
We can start with what is frustrating you, what is changing in your life, and what you would like to feel differently about your wardrobe. From there, I can recommend the most useful place to begin — whether that is a Color Story, closet edit, personal shopping, occasion styling, travel capsule, or a combination of services.
You do not need a perfectly defined style problem. That is part of what I can help you figure out.
